It is ready to kick off, with an online event on the afternoon of Monday, March 11, the 2024 edition of the Me.Mo. (Merit and Social Mobility) project promoted by the Sant'Anna School in Pisa, aimed at 370 students - starting from among more than a thousand who applied - with parents who are not college graduates, from high school fourth grades throughout Italy, to begin an guidance path toward university choice. The project was governed by a memorandum of understanding with the italian Ministry of Merit Education and is an orientation pathway selected for funding through the NRP (National Resilience Plan). The Talent at Work Foundation (Fondazione Il Talento all'Opera) also supports the project.

The opening event is scheduled for Monday, March 11, beginning at 3 p.m., in online mode, and is entitled "On the Roof of the World," recalling the 1990 World Volleyball Championships final won by Italy led by Andrea Zorzi. Andrea Zorzi himself is the guest speaker at the opening event to recount his sports experience by discussing the choices he made as a young man, reread based on his experience as an adult, urging students to think about their future with a broad perspective. Andrea Zorzi will urge the 370 students not to fall into the rhetoric of "if you want you can," but will invite them to look at the world from the heights of the thousands of opportunities and possibilities it offers.

The Me.Mo (Merit and Social Mobility) project aims to bring students in their fourth year of secondary school, who have passed the selection phase, closer to the university world, considering their starting point and their family and socio-economic background: these are the first-generation students, that is, those who are experiencing university studies for the first time in their families, all of them having parents who have not graduated.

The start of the new edition is an opportunity to get to know each other and begin interacting with their mentors, i.e., students from Sant'Anna School, Scuola Normale Superiore and Collegi Universitari di Merito. It will be the tutors who will follow the 370 female and male students from all over Italy on their journey over the next few months: the project aims to affect any social, cultural and economic barriers in order to break them down and gain awareness in choosing a university, through lectures, discussion meetings, round tables, mock tests for admission to university studies and personalized mentoring paths.

"The approach of the Me.Mo. project is to present a general view of life and the university world, recounting tools, content and experiences. The ultimate goal is to increase the percentage of students college graduates among those who might have fewer chances of access, regardless of where they decide to study": these are the words of Sara Barsanti, the project coordinator who will speak during the meeting on Monday, March 11, presenting the main stages that will characterize this edition.
